The star of this movie, panned as a vanity project by McCartney by a obvious Leonard Maltin, is not only McCartney but the music, which is a mixture of Beatles songs, Wings songs, and solo McCartney, both ragged and fresh.

The dwelling, flimsy as it is, involves the loss of the master tapes to McCartney's latest album, which has already sold millions in approach copies. Suspicion immediately falls upon Harry, a friend with a police picture who has gone straight and whom Paul lends a hand by offering him a job. The "Ballroom Dancing" number is about a trio of grammar school kids who play with each other. They grow up as teenage toughs, the boys who fight over the girl. The fight then spills over to the fair ballroom dancers. Chaos sets in as the dancers tussle with the toughs, knocking over bits of the stage in the process. Audience members watching collect terrorized, wondering, "What's going on here? " The fact that it was all staged, as one of the toughs gives a hand to one of the dancers, is somewhat of a joke. Paul then calmly asks Linda, "Lunch? " after the calamity.

There's a amusing scene in the BBC canteen when a man dressed in a hideously grotesque monster outfits scares someone nearby. In fact there are others on their lunch rupture who appear to be working on some sci-fi indicate that isn't Doctor Who.

Hearing "The Long And Winding Road" in a version preferable to Paul made up my mind that this version is better than the Let It Be version. A pensive Paul is driving down the road, while Linda, Ringo, and Barbara are anxiously waiting for word, and Sandra (Harry's wife) is sadly looking at a report of her missing husband.

The "Eleanor's Dream" daydream sequence involves an idyllic countryside and the cobblestones of a Dickensian England. Linda is shown in a majestic sequence during her last bit in it.

A brief scene between Paul and Sir Ralph Richardson, the latter's penultimate movie appearance, is touching as well as illuminating of Paul's character in the movie.

Guest stars who encourage out are of course Richardson, Tracey Ullman as Sandra, and Bryan Brown as Paul's manager, but TV mature John Bennett as the menacing Ratchett, pulls off the most effective performance, without saying a solitary word in the movie! Now that's acting!

Fans of the Beatles and Paul in particular will give this video the rating I've given it--others might rate it 1 or 2, but who cares?

What you want out of the film might affect what you examine. This is a fun film. It's like a long music video. No More Lonely Nights,Not Such A Terrible Boy, and No Values are 3 salubrious recent songs do on here. Some people feel it is a sacrilige for Paul to have re-worked Beatles tunes, but it at least offers an consuming twist. And oh, yeah, Paul was tyring to have some fun with the film. It seems some reviewers (gape review below) are being arrangement too serious and biased against Paul. To some "music fans" he can do no accurate. Not every project is genius, but Beatles fans can salvage fault with all solo Beatles material. None of them is a "saint", and all have their flaws.

This film would do nice with a DVD release with some extras. After all Shanghai Surprise (George's 1986 film) and Caveman (Ringo's 1981 film) are both on DVD and did not fare well commercially, either.

Enjoy this film as a music video with a thin place. To me, it is a nice dinky film that deserves to be re-released. And if Paul would only do a video collection spanning 1970-Present onto DVD....

16 year archaic high school student Shirou was raised by a much mystic after being found in the ruins of burned up fraction of Fuyuki City after the death of his parents. Shirou learned a bit of magic from his adopted dad but not mighty. His sole remnant of those teachings is the ability to touch objects and figure out what is nasty with them. Doesn't really bode well for a huge station in the world, does it? Things are fine normal with him until he witnesses a battle between two supernatural warriors after school. One of the figures appears to be controlled by one of his classmates, the stunning Rin. Rin is enthusiastic in a tournament like affair called the "Holy Grail Wars" between seven "Masters" and "Servants". Masters are chosen by the Holy Grail (yes, THE Holy Grail) every couple of decades to fight for mastery of its power, which can grant any wish. The Servants are the spiritual embodiments of large warriors from history that are faded as the champions of the Masters. Whichever Master is left standing at the destroy of the game gains control of the Holy Grail. Unfortunately for Shirou, he's a marked man because any witnesses to the War must be killed immediately!

Fate Pause Night really had to work on me to differentiate itself from many other anime of its ilk. It brought Angelic Layer to mind and a bit of Steel Angel Kurumi, especially when Shirou's Servant, called Saber, appears dressed as an armored maid. But the tremendous thing about Shirou's and Saber's relationship is that it isn't as wishy washy as is usual in the genre of wimpy nerd meets grand female robot or warrior. Saber is hard-edged and thinks Shirou sees her merely as a tool but she mercurial realizes that he is something completely different than the typical Master, especially since he has no clue as to what is going on. I'm keen to stare how their relationship is going to evolve. The animation and stutter acting is awesome on this first volume and really goes a ton of the plan to redeeming the subpar sage. I mean, if the Holy Grail holds the blood of Christ, would Jesus really compel people to have violent fights, sometimes to the death, to wield its power? That's where the fable trips a bit, in the reason that the Holy Grail makes people fight. Doesn't it go against everything Christian to peep might as upright? Of course, the Japanese do not concept our religion with a religious peep, but more of a secular one, so the creators simply saw the Holy Grail as a mystical gimmick that sounded wintry. If you can study over the religious inconsistencies, this is an average demonstrate with above average talent.

Since I am personally somewhat of a TYPE-MOON fan (company that is responsible for producing the Fate/Stay Night PC game this anime is based on) I give this display a 5-star rating, something I rarely give out. I'm not a total TYPE-MOON fanatic though, I haven't played either of their PC games Fate/Stay Night or Tsukihime since I can't read Japanese and/or can't earn the games. So I believe most people will luxuriate in this explain whether they already knew about it or not. I've only seen this disc with the first 4 episodes on it (out of 24) not the whole series, so that is what this review will be based on.

Story-wise I say Fate/Stay Night gets a 5 out of 5. It's not a perfect 5, and it's not some all-time classic, but it's quite entertaining and will almost certainly continue developing in the same intruiging fashion that TYPE-MOON has become well-known for. Directing is probably the weakest plot of this demonstrate, I'd give it 3 or 4 stars. It's unruffled fairly estimable, but the thing that annoys me the most is how everything gets humorous the moment that girl with short brown hair appears. I forgot her name, and while she gets her fragment of cloak time I don't judge she is an famous character in regards to the fights and main state. I wish she didn't exist, I blame her whenever the atmosphere changes into silliness. The rest of the time Fate/Stay Night is moderately serious and fits the tone I rob for these types of shows.

Drawing style I give a high 5 out of 5. As I've seen a number of others say, Rin Tohsaka is one of the best character designs ever. Drawing consistency I can't yet comment on as I've only seen 4 episodes, not enough to discover how badly the drawings may degenerate in the unpleasant episodes. So far the consistency has been gorgeous valid but I saw some repugnant things in the episode five preview. Animation quality is a uncouth 5 stars. For those who saw the Fate/Stay Night trailer (found on some other Geneon DVDs), the general animation quality of the reveal itself is not quite up to the level of the fights shown in the trailer. But it's not that powerful worse. There's shapely distinguished no label of frame-saving efforts ever, it's honest not ultra spectacular at all times like the fights in the trailer were. Background drawings are 4 stars, quite nice but not the best I've ever seen. Music is 4 stars, done by renowned anime composer Kenji Kawai, but only a few songs are really memorable. It's inevitable I contemplate when the same composers are over-utilized, they can't effect that many marvelous songs for each exhibit they do. I agree with the previous review that the intro and ending songs aren't that safe. They are not serene by Kenji Kawai, only the BGM which is better is by him.

In terms of the genre this expose is in, Fate/Stay Night is kind of modern. It's a blend of the fighting/action genre together with the dating sim genre, which is the trademark of TYPE-MOON productions. And I assume this is a grand enough exhibit to appeal to fans of both genres. It also has an bewitching historical feel, as most of the combatants in this expose are historical figures from used mythology, such as Hercules, Medusa, Sasaki Kojiro, etc. Or so I hear, in the first 4 episodes so far only a couple identities were revealed. Some people might acquire furious when they salvage out who Saber is supposed to be. Ha ha ha. I don't know when that gets revealed though.

Lastly, a review of the DVD disc itself, not the note. This is the sloppiest Geneon release I've seen in some time. The menus suck and are totally barren of anything captivating. Most of them are calm with no music. The in-show translations are also unusually terrible, filled with numerous typos and grammatical errors, occasionally bordering into "Engrish". In general the translations are done well and are very understandable, but I guess they forgot to proofread. There are essentially no extras and the trailers are broken-down rehashed stuff. One reliable thing, the dub is quite well done, so I deliver watching the dub as well as the sub, as some of the translations are handled better in it.

Great news with the release of season 5! Starting with season 5, the DVDs are single sided!

This is a very reliable season of the point to. But it's not for newbies, because in order to understand some of the better episodes here, you need to be familiar with episodes from previous seasons. So if you're unique to the note, I recommend starting either with season 1 (which is a tall introduction to the series) or with season 2 (which is my well-liked season, and doesn't require any familiarity with previous episodes.)

Echoes Of The Mind Fraction 1 - This one hour episode was originally broadcast on September 27, 1984. The music in the opening scene is from the movie "Blade Runner." This is one of my current episodes of the series. Guest actress Sharon Stone plays twins. One of the twins is nice and kind and sweet. The other twin is the character that Sharon Stone usually plays.

Echoes Of The Mind Fraction 2 - This one hour episode was originally broadcast on October 4, 1984. This continues where the previous episode left off. This is fair as valid as that episode. I won't spoil the residence of either episode for you by telling you what they're about. These two episodes were made before Sharon Stone became famed. Both of these two episodes are splendid, even by the high standards that the series has site for itself.

Mac's Succor - This is one of my popular episodes of the series. While stopped at a red light, Magnum sees his friend Mac crossing the street. There's fair one problem: Mac died two years ago. Magnum tries to convince his friends of what he saw, and they judge he's crazy. Doc Ibold even talks about possibly putting Magnum into a psychiatric hospital. The final scene of this episode is a redoing of the final scene from the season 2 episode "The Woman On The Beach."

The Legacy Of Garwood Huddle - Magnum helps an aged bank robber (who is an frail acquaintance of Higgins) rescue his grandson from kidnappers.

Under World - While flying his helicopter, T.C. crashes into the ocean. T.C. spends considerable of the episode in a coma. Will T.C. survive? Or will he be missing from the last 4 seasons of the series? If you want to know the retort, you'll have to contemplate this episode.

Little Games - Magnum makes a ample mistake when he assumes that the current Mac is as gracious a computer programmer as the ragged Mac. While I loved the earlier episode "Mac's Relieve," I don't at all like how the current Mac continues to reappear in later episodes such as this one.

Professor Jonathan Higgins - Pygmalion done Magnum style. The actress in expect, Jillie Mack, married Tom Selleck in exact life two years later.

Compulsion - A crazy psycho becomes obsessed with Magnum's friend Carol and kidnaps her.

All Four One Fragment 1 - In an attempt by the show's writers to recreate the Vietnam experience, Magnum, T.C., Rick, and Higgins go to Cambodia to rescue someone. By a unique coincidence, the plant life and mountain ranges in Cambodia view exactly like the plant life and mountain ranges in Hawaii.

All Four One Share 2 - This continues where the previous episode left off.

The Adore For Sale Boat - Another episode with the groundless Mac. The counterfeit Mac is a con artist, and this causes a lot of danger for various innocent bystanders.

Let me Hear The Music - I really like this episode. In homage to the plane atomize that killed Buddy Holly, a fictional country singer from a long time ago died in a plane fracture. Magnum tries to salvage 5 missing songs of his that are supposedly worth millions of dollars. I should have known when I saw this was a follow on from Fairytopia that I would be disappointed. This is the epic of Elina, who in the movie Fairytopia saved her country of Fairytopia and gained her wings. In this she is sent an urgent message from the Prince of Mermaidia (who briefly appeared in Fairytopia) who asks for her to back him. The movie is tubby of the trials and tribulations she goes through for him, along with his girlfriend Nori. I put a question to it is deliberate they have named the Mermaid heroine after Japanese Edible seaweed but it seems ill-considered.

Anyway - the edifying things about the movie, it is brightly coloured, and the costumes for the characters are blooming, when Elina becomes a mermaid she looks honest handsome. There are really nice messages in this - about overcoming jealousy, selflessness, sharing and the power of team work. Some of these messages are laid on with a trowel, but on the other hand it is for young children and I assume the message needs to be strong. And lets earn steady here, the movies aren't aimed at adults. However I thinksome of hte best movies are those that can easily be watched by Adults and children together - and the best Barbie movie (I deem) was Princess and the Pauper where I calm salvage it easy to sit down with my kids and observe it. I wish Barbie movies would accumulate assist to that sort of valid, singing fun.

the things I found difficult is that although there was a strong basic fable (getting the immunity berry) the whole thing was quite confusing for my under 5 year olds. There is so mighty going on that they rapidly lost track of what was happening and who was who. There were too many characters and they all seemed to have marketing tie-ins - lots of mer-ferry's, snails, mermaids, turtles, dolphins - the list went on and on. The overall yarn which seemed to open it all seemed a obsolete thought from the commence. Some of the characters faces were too inspiring. In the early Barbie movies there collected seemed to be a semblance of reality, but the merferries and so on did seem oddly characterised, almost like Japanese Anime. Perhaps it is something children like, but I grasp the ancient animation, certainly the mix of the two was unsettling at times. Lastly, there is a moment when Elina and Nori salvage marks of courage which gawk like tatoos - call me conservative, but I don't want my under 5 year customary even thinking a tatoo is cold - no matter what compose it takes.

There were some genuinely valid moments in this film and despite its faults my children have watched it a couple of times, but it doesn't really interest them in the diagram that the early dancing ones (swan lake for instance or Princess and the Pauper) I really hope the next movie planned is one of these sort.
I caught this today with my 4-year-old daughter on the Gash premier, and she loved it. And honestly, it wasn't too difficult for me to sit through either. Having seen, and owning, every Barbie movie that has approach down the chute, I can say that this was by far the best of them, and will be picking it up on release day for myself.. er, my daughter.

However, I have to say that this documentary is probably the most certain I've ever seen about Michael Jackson. The words 'nose', 'elephant man's bones', 'child abuse', 'oxygen chamber' or 'surgery' (unprejudiced to name a few out of the many illustrious cliché's) do not demonstrate up even ONCE... (which is unbelievable and ravishing spruce in my concept!) . It's mainly people halt to Michael (in the past AND explain) who notify about their experiences of working with him. They talk about the intention he does things, there are some droll anecdotes and they're all really distinct and all praise him for the intention he works and creates.

The DVD overlaps the era's from the early 'Steeltown' beginning and Michael's birth in Gary up 'til the Invincible era. It's a 2003 production so it's kind of up-to-date.

The subject matter couldn't be better! The filming and pictures are sparkling, especially when viewed on a high quality high definition grand hide monitor. This disc should not be missed!

I'm a broad fan of unbiased about everything musketeers related (scrutinize at my other reviews), and this is my celebrated spacious shroud adaptation. Kelly is easlily the most fun D'Artagnon to witness and the sword play in this movie is grand with his athleticism.

Of course, anyone who read the current would know that though it includes sword play it is the charaters and residence that go the account along, so in that respect this movie does a powerful better job than most Musketeer adaptations. It stays fairly cessation to the modern region and though there is puny time spent developing their personalities the Three are more consistant with their literary counterparts than in, well really, any of the other adaptations.

Over all one of the most fun adventure movies I've seen.

This is a fun film chunky of action and comedy. The players are astounding - Gene Kelly as D'Artagnan, Van Heflin as Athos, Gig Young as Porthos, Lana Turner as Milady DeWinter, June Allyson as Constance, Vincent Imprint as Cardinal Richelieu and more. Kelly is delightfully acrobatic, jumping around as if his legs were coiled springs, swinging on ropes, fencing like a master - he is a joy to sight - he puts Erroll Flynn to shame. Van Heflin and Gig Young are perfect as his comrades - audacious, dashing, as well as foolish and impetuous. Lana Turner is the sparkling and uncertain Milady DeWinter who seduces men to attain the Cardinal's purposes and can be deadly. June Allyson is the virtuous and hapless Constance. Vincent Ticket is marvelously horrible as Cardinal Richelieu - he uses people like chess pieces and even when thwarted he doesn't wish to waste D'Artagnan but to recruit him. The King is Frank Morgan (the Wizard in the Wizard of Oz), a bumbling but good-hearted king who doesn't quite know what is going on. The costumes and sets are breathtaking and the Technicolor is as sterling as it gets. There are some splendid exterior actions scenes along the ocean (undoubtedly the Pacific but detached splendid) .

It is Kelly who pulls the describe together, however. He seems to be everywhere at once, so fat of energy and life. Although he is a bumpkin from Gascony he is more than a match with a sword for any man in Paris be he one of the King's Musketeer or one of the Cardinal's guards. He does quite a lot with his eyes and his facial expressions, a bit overacted occasionally but serene quite appetizing. Lana Turner has top billing and she is deliciously magnificent with a seemingly endless wardrobe of astounding costumes From the first scene, however, this movie is all Kelly's - it seems a bit queer that he is so trustworthy in what is primarily an action film - but have no doubt he is completely convincing as the most athletic and acrobatic D'Artagnan ever seen on the conceal - he is a bit like Burt Lancaster in "The Crimson Pirate" but without the trampoline. Van Heflin has the most serious role as the nobleman-turned-drunken musketeer - lamenting the loss of his treacherous wife and then trying to warn D'Artagnan of the difficulty of Milady, who loves him not and is far more perilous than any of his swordman adversaries.

This is a version of this often-told memoir where the film makers "got it legal" - there is plenty of action, comedy, romance, intrigue, villainy, heartbreak all going on seemingly at once. The characters are portrayed closely to the device they were written by Dumas and this is precisely how they should be played.

I noticed an captivating trend in the negative reviews this Movie was getting. By and great, people who found this movie wearisome or dead did not stare the fresh series. Well folks...that explains it.

Unlike most Anime movie tie-ins, I.E. Cowboy Bebop or Blue Gender, the Escaflowne movie is really a re-imagination of its progenitor. While in the series the Escaflowne armor was a royal heirloom, in this it is the embodiment of destiny and a living being. And while Hitomi was painfully innocent and upbeat in the series, here she is black, lonely and suicidal. Best of all, Van is equally unlit and has lost the brave stoicism for apathy and a-moralism. All these things are so different from the series its like watching Alice in Wonderland then playing American Magee's Alice (which, if you haven't seen or played, you should) .

I will admit that when I first bought this DVD I too was disappointed. The action was super and all but the memoir dealt too considerable with ethereal Fate and Destiny, thing I really could care less about. But then I watched the series, which brings in these subjects a shrimp less jarringly and I found the whole belief remarkable more edible. And, while I was initially disgusted with the characters of this DVD, namely Hitomi and the cat girl, when I understood the origins of these characters, I loved the change. The basic sage you can obtain from the other reviews, I detest to give stuff away. But while the series focused on Van's proceed and growth into a warrior, the Movie focuses on the black prophecy to which he is chained.

But if you really want an endorsement from me, here it is. Escaflowne the Movie is an awesome experience for the open to the series. Escaflowne the Movie is a sub par experience for those who are bereft of the Series. But above all else, Escaflowne the Movie is worth watching for the absolutely extraordinary music, which really steals the explain. If nothing else, then rent this DVD and stick in a system with surround sound. Then turn off the TV and crank the volume...you will not be disappointed.

I purchased the Escaflowne Movie (Ultimate Edition), three years ago. The first-edition packaging of this region included a relatively immense, and sturdy 6 x 8 x 3 stir folding box. Stored in this box were three disks (two DVDs and one CD), and a small art booklet. The outside of the collectors box was a beauty to peer, as the artwork on the aid and front sides were done in a glossy effect. Only 10,000 units of the first edition were ever made.

The upcoming second-edition release of this position, will include everything as the current release (except the collectors box) . All three disks will be stored in a standard plastic casing.

As for the whisper of the disks, they are quite delectable. There are two DVDs, one containing the movie, and the other containing extras (music videos, cast interviews, etc.) . The music CD contains a whopping 25 tracks, and includes some resplendent vocal performances from Maaya Sakamoto, and Shanti Snyder.

The Escaflowne Movie sets a worthy darker tone, and takes situation in an alternate-universe to the TV series. For those who are novel to Escaflowne, you will feel welcomed, as the movie is stand-alone from the rest of the series. All in all, the movie is an awesome experience, and I highly recommend it for anyone's anime collection.

In So Finish sisters Lynn and Sue (Shu Qi and Vicki Zhao respectively), are a pair of high-tech (and high priced) assassins who inherit, from their slow father, a secret weapon: a satellite based surveillance package called World Panorama. World Panorama allows them to hack and exercise any closed-circuit camera system worldwide. Predictably, or there would be no movie, their unique job has its fragment of complications. Chow (Deric Wan) hires the duo to kill his brother in a corporate takeover exclaim. To add spice to the mix, Hung (Karen Mok) completes the trio of splendid (and strong) women as the creative but misguided detective investigating this case. There is a tinge of a homoerotic subplot between Hung and Sue that arguably does not satisfy on any level -- but let us not let it detract us from the action scenes, cinematography, and almost impossible high tech wizardry. The character of Lynn, conversely, is pulled in another direction.

Lynn is alive to musty like Yen (Song Seung-Hon), which makes her re-examine her chosen vocation. Lynn decides she wants out but there are, of course, complications. Sue, not having had any experience doing anything else and alive to to exhibit herself to Lynn sets out to complete the contract -- which Lynn asked her to destroy -- on her absorb. Not to do a spoiler here but to Lynn's credit she has been protecting Sue from that side of the business in an exertion to protect her from possible future guilt. I guess I can indulge in a slight bit of cynicism here -- as being an accomplice would not give Sue night chills -- I need to constantly remember -- it is light. In a recede that reminds of the Last Samurai (too many mind) leaving the trade might not be that easy for Lynn after all. For what impact that has on Lynn -- you will really need to observe the movie.

Okay, let us maintain focused on the movie's plus side -- the action is provocative. It has the predictable wire-work that Hong Kong action films are famed for. There is a ton of slow-motion as well as fast-cutting action thrown in the mix. I agree with some out there that arguably the most creative scene comes about halfway through the movie, when Hung finally meets the Lyn and Sue in an elevator. The bathroom scene early on with the two sisters going at it is pure exploitation -- but it is fun. The climax scene with Sue and Hung is not to be outdone as it is posthaste involving but nothing beats the stop proximity type scenes to really get a sense of tension. There is the inevitable comparison to Corey Yuen's The Transporter -- which I have seen but am now really though-provoking about after having seen So Terminate.

I am, of course aloof recovering from a Naked Weapon hangover and am stupefied I am paying to powerful attention to this genre. While Naked Weapon did not pull any punches -- such as a really disturbing rape scene. So Discontinuance does not suffer from this very disturbing misogynistic tendency. The slow-motion shots of Shu Qi's allow us to focus on her -- but who can complain, really. I certainly did not spy the same type of exploitation here so in a fun sort of procedure we can ascribe some gain of female liberation in this movie despite the hypersexualized characters of Lynn, Sue and Hung.

Similar to Naked Weapon, So Discontinuance is one of those movies that should enjoyed for what it is, pure entertainment. Now, if a critic is trying to earn a name for him/herself (new writer excluded, of course) it is easy to try to design more of this movie and then shoot it down. That would be immoral. Realistically, about 95% of all the movies out there are light on the social commentary and heavy on the entertainment factor. Corey Yuen's So Terminate is one of those movies and to call attention to or to ask for a sophisticated status is simply manipulation. I say inspect it for what it is and savor the special effects and decent action sequences -- for a simple fellow like me, it IS enough.

First you need to forive a couple of things before you can truely be pleased this movie, like the thin space and the pluasibility of the characters, other than that, this movie is glorious pleasurable, for certain reasons- the well-cheographed fight scenes and it's a new change having chicks do the fighting.

Shu Qi gets top billing and yes, she's blooming, but I reflect you'll be more designate with Karen Mok. She might not have the lucscious lips or the positive sex appeal, but she has an edgy, gritty physical presence which is valuable if you're gonna be an action movie star ( maybe she already is, this is the first time I've seen her in a movie) . You can acquire it when she's punching, kicking and flying thru the air because physically she is convincing. Unlike Shu Qi, who seem a tad bit fragile and she looked like she was hung on a wire a lot for the more demanding fight sequence. I also like Vicky Zhao. She's terrific as the younger, less competent sister and the heavy acting was all left to her. The handcuffed fight scene with Qi and Mok is something to marvel at and will undoubtedly be copied. The trim high tech cinematography is hard to ignore. It is a scrutinize in geometry, angles and physics, specially with the flying bullets and glass everywhere. This is well illustrated in the last shot out by the stairway.
There's a lot to be admired in this movie like the many imaginative ways of shooting a gun; upside down, downside up,sidedays, by ways, falling down, twisting and the overall imagination of the filmakers. As a Hong Kong, over-the-top action flick--- It delivers! Objective don't reflect too mighty when you're watching this movie. Concentrate more on the gun fights, sword fights and kung fu fights. I did glean a few things annoying though. For example, the Mok and Zhao characters- were they mumble to be attracted to each other, and what was that kiss about? they could have at least done it factual and gone for a rotund on lip lock titaliting threatment it deserved, outherwise why bother throwing in this slight sublot at the waste. Also a couple of the fight scenes were so techinical and crisp that you feel like picking up your supernintendo control pad and playing along. Ultimately I give this movie a gracious rating because it doesn't fail to issue its promise- ACTION and lots of it. The DVD doesn't have any extras but be thankful it offers a lot of language and subtitle options for some of us that wish to seek the movie in its unique sound. If you're not too uptight and don't sweat the dinky details, you'll bask in this movie.

I've spent decades avoiding THE 400 BLOWS, petrified it was either black and brooding, or a documentation of child abuse (physical and/or emotional), or an excited and vindictive assault on the authors' of Francois Truffaut's traumatic childhood.

I shouldn't have unnerved. THE 400 BLOWS is a gentle and compassionate movie. It isn't overwhelmed by its inflame, although a few characters, particularly the coming-of-age hero's mother and his school teacher, aren't terribly sympathetic. Being modern to THE 400 BLOWS, I found the commentary by Premiere magazine film critic Glen Kenny especially marvelous in notion French Fresh Wave cinema in general and Truffaut in particular. By the blueprint, according to Kenny "400 blows" refers to a French colloquialism similar to the American "paint the town red." It means to give oneself over to every type of excess, and raise a slight heck in the process.

The most heart-felt movie I've ever seen is a considerable mix of sharp-eye, hardhitting autobiographical remembrance of a nearly bruised childhood and a celebration of the wide-open, spontaneous and lyrical qualities of cinema to choose pointed truths of family, school and street lives as seen through the curiously apprehensive eyes of one Antoine Doinel, a modern-day Dickensian hero in a decidedly unglamours Paris, searching, often wrongheadly, for esteem and acceptance while, almost against himself, spicy the authorial rules imposed on children growing up in conformist post-WWII France. The film's tone is one of anguished bittersweetness and level-headed defiance, counterpointed by bursts of gratified freedom and impish prank playings as shared by many in their pre-adolescenthood. Doniel's friendship with the well-off but neglected Rene is also among the most sharp portraits of childhood friendship ever. An unforgettable portrait, a cutting social observe, a Unique Wave classic and Truffaut's best, but most importantly a timeless and univsersal "correct" legend. And yes, the last freeze, when it comes, is a stunner. Gosh, I honest treasure it! (P.S., this relatively dinky and unexcited masterpiece also happens to be the all-time accepted film of John Woo, imagine!)

This is a movie Crosby fans have searched for in vain for decades. Not only was it rarely aired on commercial T.V., it was never offered in VHS format. Now, thankfully, the entire movie is available on DVD and the quality is amazing. Not only is the shadowy and white cinematography looking as worthy as it did in 1936, the audio makes it seems as if Bing is sitting in your living room, singing his heart out to an audience of one.

Crosby was always underrated as an actor and he is extraordinary in the role of singing, swingin' troubadour. Child actress Edith Fellows is very effective and their cloak chemistry is palpable. There's obedient humor throughout the movie, both intended and, one senses, unintended. Naturally Bing sings several songs, including the classic signature number, "Pennies From Heaven," which was number on of the hit parade for seven weeks. Crosby's drawl is an instrument of beauty, depth and power. Cessation your eyes and listen to him croon: extraordinary!

An added bonus is a brief appearance by the legendary Louis Armstrong, who was an early and integral influence on the young Crosby. Bing and Louis were friends off the place and knew each other long before filming this movie. Perceive for the young Lionel Hampton in Armstrong's band. This is simply a like trove of Americana and a really endearing movie. I recommend it without reservation.

In general the weakest allotment of any musical is the dialogue and set that links the musical interludes and this is suitable of Pennies from Heaven.

The film began with a most bizarre scene in which a man about to be executed requests a favour from Bing Crosby who impartial happens to be in jail for some minor crime. Once out of prison Crosby resumes his career as a drifter who cant earn a regular living despite his clear ability as a singer. Despite his homeless and moneyless site he calm manages to enjoy a well groomed appearance. Of course, this insistence by Hollywood on stars presenting an immaculate image regardless of spot was de rigueur for many years. Mighty of the dwelling and acting is somewhat inane and the film is only saved by the music of Burke & Johnston performed by Bing Crosby and Louis Armstrong.

As a teenager in the 1930's with the cinema in its hey day I had microscopic, if any, indispensable faculty and took everything I saw on veil at its face value therefore when I criticise a film of that period I also remember it with nostalgia and pleasure despite the shortcomings of which I am aware today.

Beginning your movie with the proper song can regain you off to a suited initiate and "Adventures in Babysitting" gives us that golden oldie "And Then He Kissed Me" as Chris Parker prepares for her enormous date with her boyfriend. Unfortunately, this clown promptly proceeds to dump our heroine, which only proves he is a fool because Chris is played by Elisabeth Shue. Those of us who remember "Call to Glory" already knew that Shue was a babe and so does Brad Anderson (Keith Coogan), the kid who is too old-fashioned for the babysitter on whom he has a mondo crush. Into the mix we add Sara Anderson (Maia Brewton), the adorable kid sister who has a thing for the Great Thor from Marvel Comics (she must have got the frigid Thor helmet from Stan Lee, Jack Kirby or somebody in the ol' Bullpen), Daryl Coopersmith (Anthony Rapp), Brad's best friend who has yet to learn when to shut up, and Brenda (Penelope Ann Miller), Chris' best friend who is stuck in downtown Chicago at a bus depot without her glasses, having decided that running away from home was a dreadful understanding. Unfortunately for our heroine, deciding to simply go down and rob up Brenda proves to be a awful notion. With the three kids in tow, Chris takes off for the substantial city. When the dwelling wagon gets a flat tire that is only the first in a massive chain of misfortunes that befall our fearless lass. There will be a tow truck man with a claw, street thugs with knives on the El, gangster in a slash shop, a college frat party, a stop encounter with the parental units at a party high at top a skyscraper, and a appetizing session of singing "The Babysitter Blues."

In its fill diagram, "Adventures in Baby Sitting is in the mold of the Indiana Jones films, where the cast of characters are stuck on a roller coaster of moving encounters. Our harried heroine puts up with all of this in order to effect her friend and obtain the kids home before their parents bag out they have spent the night narrowly escaping death instead of being superior at home watching the tube. Even though there is a running gag that Chris looks exactly like the Playmate of the Month, this is a movie aimed for kids in the age range of her charges. There is enough of a cartoonish element to the dreadful guys to win the edge off of the dangers interested and of course we know from the first label of the movie that everything will turn out okay in the destroy and Chris is going to top off the evening by getting kissed by someone who might actually deserve her. Shue's natural performance holds the film together and although she has gone on to decidedly more dramatic roles in her more new films, she evinces a natural flair for comedy in this one. However, be warned: once your kidlets have seen this 1987 Disney film they are going to be grossly disappointed in whoever you pay to recognize them the next time you go out for a night of fun. Final note: Be distinct to inspect the entire credits at the extinguish.

Another classic 80's comedy, ADVENTURES IN BABYSITTING (aka "A Night on the Town") comes to DVD to delight mature fans and original.

When highschool senior Chris Parker (Elisabeth Shue) decides to utilize Saturday night babysitting the Anderson kids Sara (Maia Brewton) and Brad (Keith Coogan) as well as Brad's best friend Daryl (Anthony Rapp), no one, not least Chris, will be prepared for the wild trail ahead, when Chris' best friend Brenda (Penelope Ann Miller) phones and begs to be rescued from the Chicago bus depot after an aborted attempt to speed away. This is such a fun film. Elisabeth Shue glows as Chris and offers one of her funniest comedy performances. Whilst she is best-remembered by most film critics for her role in "Leaving Las Vegas", to 80's kids like me, she'll forever be fondly regarded as Chris in AIB.

Anthony Rapp, Keith Coogan and Maia Brewton are hilarious in their roles, and Penelope Ann Miller is a weep in the film's clever subplot of Brenda's adventures in the bus depot. The film also features early turns from Vincent d'Onofrio, Bradley Whitford and George Newbern.

The DVD is presented in non-anamorphic widescreen, with no extras whatsoever, but fans will impartial be pleased to finally have this 80's gem on DVD. A bargain mark too.

I purchased a copy of Yu-Gi-Oh Broad Championship Season 5 in a DVD Box Station. Yugi has now defeated Dartz,and now was the Egyptian God Cards help in his deck. As a teacher of Classical Greek and Roman Mythology I was looking forward to "Troy." In the past I have set aside together a unit on the Trojan War that included not only Homer's chronicle poem the "Iliad," but also the plays of Euripides and Aeschylus and other feeble works on the stories of these characters. In other words I am familiar with this narrative to the extent that when Briseis showed up wearing a garment with long sleeves I was upset that we did not fetch to gape the heavenly arms that were fraction of her usual epithet. So, suffice it to say, that when characters who survived the Trojan War started dying in this film, I was not exactly elated. Consequently, the truth is that the less you know about the Trojan War of classical mythology, the more you will luxuriate in Wolfgang Petersen's "Troy."

I have no predicament with the view that Homer and the other ancients have to be adapted in making a fresh motion relate about the Trojan War. The fight choreography was worked out by Simon Crane, the film's stunt coordinator and second unit director, who describes Achilles as fighting with a boxing style but with the velocity of a hasten skater and the agility of a panther. The best fight sequences of "Troy" are when Achilles is fighting. Bana does a excellent job of capturing Hector's nobility without turning him into a marble statue, while Peter O'Toole fills the role of Priam naturally. On the Trojan side the problematic character is Paris (Orlando Bloom), again because of the writing more than the performance. Priam has negotiated peace between Troy and the Sparta of King Menelaus (Brendan Gleeson), but that is destroyed when Paris persuades Helen (Diane Kruger) to hurry away with him. Both Hector and Priam know that Paris is base and their reasons for supporting him and thereby dooming Troy ring hollow (the less than stellar "Helen of Troy" television miniseries did a nice job of providing a solid motivation for the Trojans to protect Helen) .

Luckily Warner gave Petersen the opportunity to revisit this tale film and add more meat to the bones of a film that had the gape of an story but was missing powerful of the emotional depth.

Petersen restores roughly 32 minutes to the film giving additional depth to the various relationships in the film. While "Troy" isn't a perfect sage, it's great improved. James Horner's derive is aloof occasionally obtrusive but the overall impact of Petersen's film with its reliable performances from Brian Cox (who steals almost every scene he's in), the aloof power of Eric Bana and even the gravity of Pitt as Achilles is far more effective than the previous version.

Image quality is superior for both the DVD and Blu Ray verisons of the film (the Blu Ray, of course, gets the nod because the images are noteworthy sharper, crisper with better definition but the DVD isn't too shabby either) . Audio for the Blu Ray is presented lossless while the DVD's audio sounds terrific given the limitations of the format. Colors are a bit bolder here than on the previous version to my eyes.

It appears that a lot of the special features from the previous edition have been ported over and the only current things are the introduction by Petersen as well as a retrospective 23 itsy-bitsy interview where Petersen discusses the genesis of the recent film and this project.

This film version powerful more closely resembles what he had in mind when he took on the project. Greek mythology purists will secure some of the changes disturbing but some of the changes enhance the film pulling the strands of the narrative together a diminutive tighter.

This dvd is from the A&E Biography series and so tends to recall an overall conception of Eisenhower's life, hitting the maybe more familiar highs and lows with members of his family and co-workers offering their views, etc. It fell short for me on Eisenhower's Presidency. It captured it in essence but if this dvd had been lengthened out to 2 dvds, looking into his cabinet, his style as a President, etc. it might have been a large station. It seemed before you knew it, the 100 minutes was gone and you didn't obtain a more in-depth sense of the significance of his presidency. I'm determined someone will set another dvd out.

I'm not clear if it is indeed Tom Selleck narrating but it obvious sounds like him. That notwithstanding, this is probably the best documentary on Ike Eisenhower that exists. If you want to know Ike as the man, examine this documentary. Also the movie 'Ike: Countdown to D-Day' with Tom Selleck is very well-behaved. Quick-witted documentary.

The "Master of Suspense", Alfred Hitchcock, hits another bullseye with his 1956 production of "The Man Who Knew Too Remarkable". Purists have been known to complain that they steal Hitchcock's unusual 1934 version of the tale to the lavish, widescreen, color version starring James Stewart and Doris Day, but if viewed side by side, both films stand on their maintain as classic Hitchcock.

The 1956 "Man" unfolds like a resplendent book, methodically, deliberately, and compellingly. Stewart plays an American doctor and Day is his wife, a retired singer. Hitchcock has once again assembled a friendly cast of supporting players including his long time musical collaborator, Bernard Herrmann, who appears onscreen for the first time, playing himself while conducting an fresh portion of music during the Albert Hall sequence. Boy, does that work! I have seen the film more than a dozen times and unexcited can't finish off the edge of the seat. One of the greatest casting coups in Hitchcock history has Doris Day playing the anguished mother and wife of the man who knew too powerful, and although the story's title names the man, it is the wife's narrative all the arrangement. She is the emotional center of the story; it is her intuitions, her suspicions, her deductions that propel the memoir, and Doris Day plays the share to a fare-thee-well offering a performance which sizzles through a gamut of emotions from the lighthearted fun of dueting with her miniature boy (to the by now standard, "Whatever Will Be Will Be") to the disaster of having to choose to try to discontinuance the assassination even though it may cost her son's life. Overall, this is another pleasurable DVD, better than the first one in my understanding. So, if your collecting the unique DVDs, don't forget this one!

The main reason my daughter was so indignant about this movie was because of the pegasus shown on the front camouflage. She's so into horses and if they waft or have a horn...even better. Well, guess what...NO Pegasus in this movie! She kept asking where it was and when the movie was ending and unruffled no pegasus...the tears came (she is a dramatic 4 yr musty, but I was even disappointed for her) . As it turns out, the pegasus is only in the "Special Features" fraction as a music video which is about 3 minutes long. What a disappointment. As it turns out she detached enjoys the movie (it also comes with 2 other episodes: Dora's Jack-In-The-Box and Bark, Bark To Play Park), but I produce clear we glimpse the music video a couple times before I turn it off. She's common it now, but peaceful I wish I would have known before her Grandma bought her this movie.

Personally I can't stand Dora but my 4 year old-fashioned niece loves her. So, if she's entertained (and serene) when this is on I'm cheerful. I'm not certain of the educational value but my niece does pay attention and do the runt movements and exercises. I'd recommend for the young kids.

This is the same DVD as the other SKY King DVD that has the shaded and white veil. They have the same four episodes.

This is substantial. As a baby boomer I remember watching this every saturday morning along with The Lone Ranger, and Fury. Today's jaded kids would salvage it a bore. It takes alot to stimulate today's younger generation. But in a more inocent time (when going out for a hot dog or ice-cream was a titanic deal) Sky King was was up there as a top kids note. I conception on buying the whole series.

I am a fan of The Shield and I am guessing that you are at least familiar with it or you wouldn't be looking at the box plot. Since you are here to settle to consume the box dwelling or not, I want to warn you that they have created something that looks like a recount book which has the discs squeezed between the pages. The plight is that every time you catch a disc out or keep it in, the disc is scraping across the surface of the cardboard pages in which it is sandwiched. The book is nice looking so I did give it 3 stars for that reason and of course the series itself is as the other reviewers have mentioned well worth your time if you like the cop genre. If this is the only DVD series you have, it would see nice on your coffee table, but if you have a DVD case it is awkward because of the shape and size of the box. I articulate they build these cardboard box spot holders to keep money or to glean you to occupy the series in the boxes that you gain with individual seasons. I had the same jam with the complete series of the Wire. I will probably have to consume the DVD's out of the box space sleeves and set them in old-fashioned plastic DVD cases to protect the DVD's which is an additional expense to believe if you are buying this status to effect money. It would be nice if the manufacturers offered alternative (outmoded) packaging as an option without forcing you to prefer the series one season at at time for double the label of the box situation.

The Shield is one of those shows that rips you in on the first episode and keeps you coming assist again and again. I can't study TV on Tuesday nights in the Descend without thinking about The Shield. If you're a fan of sunless and gritty shows this is the cat's meow. From the very first episode, you are forced to advance to odds with Detective Vic Mackey (Michael Chiklis) the surprisingly likeable anti-hero of the expose. Site in the fictional Barn district of LA, it is based around a nefarious gang-task force unit called the Strike Team.

The once tight family disengrates as the members struggle internally with how to handle their actions. Elsewhere in the Barn, Detective Claudette Wyms (CCH Pounder) begins to accomplish a tustle for reform while Detective "Dutch" Wagenbach (Jay Karnes) takes a disturbing turn into darkness. 8/10

Season Four: With the Strike Team seperated things buy challenging paths. Strike Team members Lem, Mackey, and Gardocki try to retain things trim, while Vendrell and his fresh partner continue the dilapidated ways. Vendrell doesn't have the instincts and smarts of Mackey and soon winds up over his head in the utilize of drug dealer Antwon Mitchell (Anthony Anderson) . Glenn Finish joins the cast as Captain Monica Rawling. A speedy paced season that leaves you questioning impartial who to trust. 9/10

Season Six: After the events of the season five finale, Vic is on the warpath. With one hand he is vengance meander, on the other he is trying to put his career as brass tries to force him into retirment. Vandrell continues to seperate himself from the rest of the Strike Team as he falls in with the Armenian Mob and struggles with internal guilt. Wyms now promoted to the captain of the Barn is deadset on saving it from itself and all those that stand in its intention. 7/10

Season Seven: The final season. Vic collected residence on vengance finally has a accurate target, while Vandrell goes entirely rogue on the lamb. Wyms and Dutch run against time to finally rob down Mackey, while Gardocki and himself go darker than ever - hunting one of their beget. Season Seven pits Vic against everyone he loves and tests his survival instinct to its core. In the slay, it is a chilling season that should have earned Emmy nods for Michael Chiklis and Walter Goggins. 10/10

The series has its highs and lows, but on a whole remains a great fragment and one of the best cop shows ever. This a series I've watched over and over again in marathon sessions. I owned all but the final season on DVD and have since given them away when word of the complete series finally came around.

This is a must have DVD collection and my common TV prove of all time.

Allen Baron spent most of his career directing television dross like The Dukes of Hazzard and Charlie's Angels--35 years of it, to be actual. The Criterion edition features a newly restored digital transfer, "Requiem for a Killer: The Making of Blast of Silence," on-set Polaroids, and a booklet featuring an essay by film critic Terrence Rafferty and a four-page graphic-novel adaptation of the film by acclaimed artist Sean Phillips (Criminal, Sleeper, Marvel Zombies) . I am truly amazed Blast of Silence has not achieved classic cult-film state. Blast of Silence is 77 minutes of time well spent in noir at its best.

This movie was not like any other I have ever seen, but I haven't seen them all and I haven't seen all of Cassavetes' work, which keeps being mentioned in connection with it. Dated? Not to me unless you are referring to the Village Gate scene and I take to call that "period" rather than "dated."

I'd recommend this movie to anyone who happens to be reading about it--you are obviously keen in noirs and this, for being a itsy-bitsy past the noir period, is about as noir as you can win. Unforgettable, too.

The extras on the DVD were terrific. Wish that Criterion Collection movies weren't so expensive, but I must admit they are worth it.

Shrek has grossed over 260 million in the theaters (as of Aug. 14, 2001) . That's within .05% of the top grossing animation of all times, Toy Memoir (@ 262 million) . Shrek is a colossal 3D movie. The 3D computer animation is second, only to Final Fantasy. The narrative is more entertaining than what I expected. The voices were well cast and performed. The whole film awsome. I'm certain you're aware of that or you wouldn't be reading this now. It has both adult (trim adult) and kids humor. The writers plagerized unbiased about everyone and it was hilarious. Okay, now for the DVD. This DVD is created as 2 parts. One disc is aimed for the kids and the format is "fat Mask" (pan & scan) and includes 17 DVD-ROM games. The other disc is geared more for adults and is letterbox formatted. Both discs have 3 minutes of extended ending that was never scene in the theatrical release. There's 'Making Of' and 'Behind The Scenes'. It encludes 11 hours of extras. There are also running commentaries. This DVD will actually allow you to replace a charector's bellow with you bear with "Sherk's Revoice Studio" effects. There are 15 minutes of newly enchanting footage specifically for the DVD interactive menues.. . . . . Shall I go on? . . . There is a sticker on EVERY box saying it's a winner. Each box has eligebility to collect a prize, from a Kia car to X-Box game consoles to Baskin Robins Ice cream. So, we have a amazing movie, the most massive extras features ever on a DVD, and free give-aways. And yould be nuts not to assume advantage of this offer.

Sitting in the theater, I watched my 6 1/2 year musty nephew eat up the smart colors and classic notice gags, while I watched my 25 year customary fiancee almost spill his popcorn laughing at the genuine same joke. What I really liked about this movies was that duality-that one dwelling of lines can be almost making me wet my pants while the more innocent version is keeping the shrimp guys and gals glued to the veil. I found it to be reminiscent of the first Toy Fable and the underlying message is easy for kids of all shapes and sizes to understand without being so cookie cutter sweet and sappy. Procure for the spacious green guy. I'd steal him home.

Not taking anything away from "The Flintstones" or "The Jetsons" or any of the other big Hanna Barbera cartoons, but "Top Cat" may objective be the funniest, hippest, smartest exhibit HB ever establish out. From the writing, the backgrounds, setting the note in a sincere (as opposed to fictional) city--New York--and Gershwin-esq music ques, every episode of "Top Cat" is quality comedy from the first frame to the last. I absolutely loved this point to as a kid, and now that I'm an adult I can gape it with a fresh appreciation for the talent that went into making it.

Seven characters voiced by six tall actors (The extraordinary Leo de Lyon pulled double duty as the scream of both Brain and Spook), each with a sure and endearing personality. Arnold Stang is brilliantly cast as Top Cat, bringing a sensitivity and vulnerability to the role of this "hukster." Maurice Gosfield is hilarious as the enjoyable Benny the Ball, as is Marvin Kapland as Choo-Choo. And Allen Jenkins is perfect as officer Dribble, er, I mean Dibble. Really, the only character who doesn't do distinguished for me is Fancy-Fancy, but the episodes tend to leave him and Spook (whom I do like) a bit more in the background than the other characters.

Combine huge characters with vast actors and expansive writing and you pick up some gigantic comedy. In the first episode, "Hawaii Here We Advance," the opening shot of cramped Benny hula dancing and singing "Aloha Hoyiiiiie!" is fair one of the funniest things I've ever seen. And in that same episode they seem to purchase a swipe at Disney with a line about Davy Crockett and "that song," which Dibble tries to remember but comes up with "Daaaavy Crockett, with the googlie eyes . . . no, that's not it."

This is most definitely a prove for all ages. Kids will like the comical cats, and adults will delight in the more subtle aspects of the humor. On that basis alone I'd recommend this DVD, but wait! There's more!

This DVD package has some spacious extras. The documentary Befriend to Hoagy's Alley, hosted by Leo de Lyon (Spook and Brain) is very nice, and I really savor the interview with Mr. T.C. himself, Arnold Stang. I have watched one of the commentaries so far, and that's very profitable as well, and I recognize forward to watching the other two. Video quality is apt and holds up even on my 42" plasma. My only complaint (objective a nit-pick, really) is that disc 4 is two sided so you have to flip it over. Couldn't they have made it single sided, dual-layered instead? Oh, well, not really famous.

In short, if you are a fan of TV animation from the 50s and 60s then you must secure this situation. It's a shame that T.C. only got 30 episodes (though they were shown for years on Sat. mornings) . This explain should have gone on mighty longer. But maybe with this DVD release T.C. will earn some fresh fans and the note will win the astronomical recognition it deserves.

During the 70's and 80's Mexican television (Televisa) was too cheap to take any recent programs, so they kept on showing the same shows OVER and OVER, Pink Panther, the first Spiderman series, Here Comes the Grump, Señorita cometa and others became cult classics to my generation. Among these shows stands out Top Cat (Don Gato), particularly because of the genius of the dubbing artists who gave regional Mexican accents to the different cats, and would often insert off-color humor into the present (some of which only now, upon seeing these again) I'm finally getting. I was a bit apprehensive when I bought the spot because I didn't know if the spanish dub was included and novel, but I was not dissapointed.
Now, if I can only gather a DVD of Señorita Cometa or Here Comes the Grump I'll be really glad reliving my childhood.

October 19 brings a promising release of Wacky Races, the series where many different characters compete in races in their custom cars. Sadly I dont consider Cartoon Network plays these shows anymore so many kids may not know what this is. Adults will remember it though and it certainly is a point to the entire family can delight in. The demonstrate follows a similar pattern: Dick Dastardly and Mutley cheat every diagram they can to gather but never do, and Muttley always laughs about it. Hope this convinces you to capture this region, it looks to be a gargantuan release of some classic animation from the 60's and 70's.

The Wacky Racers race again on this 3-disc space, the first in a classic Hanna-Barbera triptych consisting of WACKY RACES, DASTARDLY AND MUTTLEY IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES and THE PERILS OF PENELOPE PITSTOP.

At the time of this show's release upon the airwaves, Hanna-Barbera had arrive under fire from disturbed parents for the violence exhibit in their adventure programs such as Situation GHOST, BIRDMAN AND THE GALAXY TRIO, FRANKENSTEIN JR. AND THE IMPOSSIBLES, and THE HERCULOIDS. (Incidentally, we're smooth waiting for capable releases of these on DVD, Warner Brothers. Ahem.) HB responded with this series, which not only returned them to wild slapstick comedy as featured in YOGI Acquire and HUCKLEBERRY HOUND, but gave them their first recurring cartoon villains: the ignoble, treacherous, completely inefficient Dick Dastardly and his wheezing, snickering canine sidekick Muttley.

The position of each episode is simple: eleven cars, each one a distinctly and fantastically customized vehicle (inspect other reviews for the complete lineup) compete in car races throughout North America for the title of The World's Wackiest Racer. The rules seem to be highly flexible: each car has distinct attributes that allow its owner(s) to bag the advantage from time to time, often in ways that would be considered unsporting in a real-life car rush. Despite this, Dick Dastardly and Muttley (voiced by Paul Winchell and Don Messick) smooth use most of each bustle trying to regain through extremely define and badly-planned booby-traps (sometimes contributing heartily to their absorb demise: in the very first episode, D.D. has the hurry in the bag until the narrator (Dave Willock) mentions "photo attain" at which point Dastardly stops at mere INCHES from the attain line to pose for a photo) .

Where the site thickens is in the diverse range of cars and racers: though Dastardly, Muttley and Penelope Pitstop were the sure breakout stars, this is Hanna-Barbera's largest ensemble cast (23 characters!), scoping a wide range of personalities; nutty inventor Pat Pending; hyperenthusiastic Rufus Ruffcut and his pet beaver Sawtooth; the incoherent cavemen Slag Brothers (Rock and Gravel) ; laid-back hillbilly Indolent Luke and his mopish pet Blubber Occupy, and the ubitiquous Ant-Hill Mob, to name but a few. The cars, all tailor-made to their racers, are excellently designed and the source of numerous gags: the Ghastly Twosome and their Creepy Coupe's "dragon power" with genuine dragon; the Compact Pussycat, which dispenses beefy salon conveniences to its owner Penelope Pitstop; and the Red Max's Crimson Haybailer, both car AND aeroplane in one. There's even a bit of irony: bumbling Peter Perfect's Turbo Terrific falls apart constantly, while Dick Dastardly, whose Mean Machine is perhaps the fastest car of the lot, could have won a bustle if he fair didn't discontinuance to cheat.

The three-disc residence is colorfully packaged with nice artwork featuring a group shot of all the Wacky Racers in the foldouts. The discs themselves hold commentary on four episodes from well-known personnel at HB and two featurettes detailing the history of WACKY RACES and a peek at its spinoffs DASTARDLY AND MUTTLEY IN THEIR FLYING MACHINES and THE PERILS OF PENELOPE PITSTOP.

This package is a nicely conceived situation, and showcases one of Hanna-Barbera's most fondly remembered series; its release can only mean that more of HB's finest is soon to near. (Warner Brothers: please re-read the above. AHEM.)
