There was a obvious time in the 1980s when barbarian fantasy movies were the movie trend du jour, which is presumably how Ralph Bakshi and artist Frank Frazetta got the go-ahead for “Fire and Ice.” It’s basically a gauzy wisp of a residence that is filled with hilariously cheezy dialogue, semi-nude damsels and other fun things dredged from the imagination of a 13-year-old swords-and-sorcery geek.

After the Ice Age, corrupt queen Julianna and her son Nekron (?!?!?!) decided to conquer the world with his giant telekinetically-controlled iceberg. The only spot they haven’t squished or conquered is Firekeep, so they kidnap King Jarol’s almost-naked daughter Teegra — but she escapes, and ends up encountering Larn, a strapping young barbarian whose village was wrecked by Nekron. They fight, she runs away, and two minutes later they’re prepped for the horizontal mambo.

But after a Random Monster Attack knocks Larn out, our inept hero wakes to obtain that Teegra has been taken by Juliana’s subhuman minions. So he joins forces with a mysterious hooded man named Gloomy Wolf, who apparently is POed at Julianna for reasons never explored in-story, and wants to demolish Nekron (again, for reasons never explored in-story) . Together they conception to prefer aid Teegra and establish the world, blah blah blah.

“Fire And Ice” is is basically your run-of-the-mill barbarian fantasy record, so it doesn’t have noteworthy of a dwelling beyond Do The Lovely Damsel And Defeat The Threat Against The World. Blatant sexism (“Waa, nobody takes me seriously, so I’ll roll around in a string bikini!”), hinted racism, a designated Snide Joyful Villain, and a seemingly endless list of spot holes (Teegra is unable to hasten an OVERHAND KNOT? ) and inconsistencies (why can subhumans scale a cliff but not a TREE? ) .

And the whole thing is CHEESY. The dialogue is cheesy (“You may have caught me, but you’ll never give me to Nekron!”), the monsters are cheesy (pirouetting kraken attack!), and the cheesiness of the climax could design enough grilled sandwiches to feed the entire world for a year. And it’s fine silly at times in its earnestness, with dialogue filled with unintentionally hilarious moments (“Give me your worship,” Teegra’s dad says to his almost-naked daughter) and action scenes (two guys in speedos whacking each other with swords! Hello Freudian symbolism!) .

And the whole thing is done with mind-blowing seriousness. Well, except for a few scenes of sexual symbolism that unbiased have to be tongue-in-cheek — like Nekron writhing and screaming as his magically upthrusting pillars of ice explode in sprays of liquid. That can’t possibly be serious.

The reigning character here is Murky Wolf, a butt-kicking and quiet guy who wears a cat-eared executioner’s shroud and Calm looks tough. He also sneezes more brain cells than our hero ever did — despite being The Designated Hero, Larn never actually succeeds in anything he does. And Teegra is basically there to scuttle around the woods in a child’s string bikini and writhe around suggestively to find male attention, like a pornographic Snow White.

“Fire and Ice” runs neither hot nor cool — it’s unprejudiced a ample oozing mass of cheese, with lots of naked women and vaguely offensive undertones. But it’s tailor-made for a nice drinking game.

One of the best adult themed animation movies ever made. The recount and sound (7.1-dts) on the blu-ray is awesome. Well worth the money.

I took my 4 year worn, and four 7 year olds to seek this movie, and it made an impact on all of us. This movie is current. It is not Disney-ish and while I’ve appreciation for Disney, this movie did not have the “cutesy” factor of a Disney movie. Spirit captured my children’s hearts and imaginations. This movie took the children through a fleshy spectrum of emotions. They were jubilant at Spirit’s courage, excited about his treatment, dark when he was murky and Rain was injured, and again thrilled when he was finally free! Isn’t this what movies are for…to entertain our emotions? This movie beautifully depicted strength and courage. The animation was phenomenal and the music…Bryan Adams, what more can I say!!! My four year veteran was deeply impacted by this movie. She says it changed her life. When she went to gather shots, she told me, “I will not sob, I will be heroic like Spirit” and she didn’t shed a slump! I highly recommend this elegant and novel movie to anyone who wants to stare or have their children leer a movie that covers a stout spectrum of emotions and leaves you feeling uplifted!!

After watching this movie, I have got to say that this is truly a modern theatrical experience. This is one of the many movies I have been wanting to search for for a very long time, and I wasn’t dissapointed. The presentation of Spirit is something to absorb on to. The Radiant Pick Up of Hans Zimmer, the Exceptional Songs of Bryan Adams and the Favorable Narration from Matt Damon is very Dazzaling. I can’t say nothing awful about this movie because there really isn’t anything to say.

For a 15 year customary guy, like me, I was very Cheerful to ogle that Dreamworks also belief of the Adults, with the anecdote being strong, as it is, but also giving us the normal humor that we quiz from a kids film.

From the Opening Scene to the Final Jump, Spirit is a film that Everyone should go out and view, because it will bring people closer together. For positive Spirit will be getting an Award for the Sterling work that each individual did on this movie. I can’t wait to derive this on DVD!

We all cherish “Rudolph,” and “Frigid,” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” “Minute Drummer Boy” peaceful makes me wail like a baby and the diminutive known “Cricket on the Hearth” is a buried gem. I can even win the peculiar addition of “Mr Magoo” (which is not a Rankin-Bass product) to the collection, but I have no notion who understanding it was a great conception to establish the NON-Rankin Bass Wintry special here instead of the “steady” Cold sequel: “Frosty’s Winter Wonderland.”

Don’t be fooled. “Wintry Returns” is NOT by Rankin Bass and does not feature Jackie Vernon as scream of the feeble snowman or Karen the tiny girl or the account of Jack Frost trying to prefer the hat so all the children will devour him instead of Frigid. “Chilly Returns” is garbage and does not belong surrounded by these other upright Christmas classics. But if you don’t mind that and Magoo, it is a mountainous collection of some of the Just holiday classics.Frosty’s Winter Wonderland/Twas the Night Before Christmas

Classic Media brings us 7 Christmas specials in one stunning package in its “Recent Christmas Classics” DVD collection. The headliners of this site are the three greatest Rankin/Bass Christmas TV specials of all-time: Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Cool the Snowman, and Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town! In addition to these, we are treated to “The Microscopic Drummer Boy”, “Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol”, “Cricket on the Hearth”, and “Wintry Returns”. Plus, a CD of holiday music selections is even included as a bonus!

Disc One features everyone’s approved Rankin/Bass special, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.” Based on the beloved song, it’s the stop-motion “animagic” classic from 1964 about a itsy-bitsy reindeer born with a nose that glows red! Teased about his nose as a child, Rudolph runs away from Santa’s village and makes original friends along the blueprint but also encounters the frightful Bumble snow-beast! Then, when a fog comes up to threaten Santa’s Christmas Eve flight, it’s only Rudolph’s nose that can assign the day! Featuring unforgettable songs from Burl Ives (who plays Sam the Snowman) and others, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” has become a holiday tradition loved by millions!

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Original Christmas Classics! Click Here

Also on Disc One is “Cricket on the Hearth.” Introduced by Danny Thomas and starring the voices of himself, his daughter Marlo, Roddy McDowall, Hans Conried, Paul Frees, and more, this 1967 traditionally appealing special is a musical version of Charles Dickens’ classic. It’s the tale of a toymaker and his daughter who relieve a worthy cricket that saves the day after the family falls on hard times. “Cricket on the Hearth” is a lesser known Rankin/Bass production and not as endearing as their bigger hits, but it is aloof a nice holiday viewing you probably haven’t seen before.

Disc Two holds a classic that is nearly as beloved as Rudolph, “Icy the Snowman”. This 1969 classic is traditionally gripping and probably Rankin/Bass’s best work in 2D. The charming character designs, voices, music, and simple memoir are absolutely improbable. Based on another classic song, this is the myth of a snowman that comes to life when the children who built him add a discarded magic hat. Unfortunately, snowmen can’t last forever unless they are in a residence that is always snowy, and the outrageous Professor Hinkle, the frustrated magician who threw out his hat, wants the hat help now that he knows it holds sincere magical power! Hosted by an attractive Jimmy Durante, “Chilly the Snowman” is such a treat that it even inspired three 2D sequels so far, though only “Frosty’s Winter Wonderland”, from the same creators and with Jackie Vernon abet as Frosty’s drawl, is really suited. Disc Two also includes the only DVD bonus feature in this location, a Wintry pencil test.

Also on Disc Two is one of the more new and very disappointing sequels, “Chilly Returns.” Truthfully, I don’t consider this can be called an official sequel, as I don’t contemplate Rankin/Bass had anything to do with this 1992 rip-off. Surprisingly, this one is from the creators of the fantastic Peanuts specials, sans Charles Schultz, but it has none of that magic. “Icy Returns”, which depicts a Icy voiced by John Goodman and with nothing in celebrated with the unusual aside from being made of snow, is hosted by an piquant (and for some reason limited) Jonathan Winters in an attempt to mimic the host-character style of the Rankin/Bass faves. He presents the sage of a town that is becoming snow-free thanks to a businessman’s spray can invention, “Summer Wheeze.” Wintry and his friends go on a mission to indicate to the townsfolk that snow can actually be a marvelous thing, but all in all it’s a fable that is heavenly uninvolving and forgettable. What a shame they never couple the fresh Cold with “Frosty’s Winter Wonderland”. Unfortunately, you have to seize the other boxed site to obtain that one.

Disc Three features what is, in my idea, the definitive version of how Santa became Santa. Well, along with “Santa Claus, the Movie” anyway. “Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town” is the name of the special, and it’s the third of the three big-name classics in this DVD region. The 1970 animagic film, hosted by a stop-motion Fred Astaire, gives us the sage of Santa being left at the doorstep of a toymaking elf family when he was a baby, being raised by them and amongst the forest animals, going on missions to direct toys to the children of Sombertown, meeting Winter the warlock and Jessica, the future Mrs. Claus, and going up against the abominable Burgermeister Meisterburger. This charming occupy on Santa’s origins includes the voices of Mickey Rooney as Santa Claus, Keenan Wynn as Winter, and the expansive Paul Frees in several roles. Like most Rankin/Bass holiday classics, this is based on a classic song.

The remaining two holiday specials are also included on Disc Three. They are the lesser known but smooth noteworthy loved “The Petite Drummer Boy,” a somewhat shadowy Rankin/Bass animagic narrative from 1968 about an orphaned drummer boy who hates people and only loves his animal friends until a visit to the current nativity scene shows him the light, and 1962’s “Mr. Magoo’s Christmas Carol,” which presents the classic, nearsighted cartoon character as an actor in a Broadway production of his acquire version of “A Christmas Carol.” Both specials are charming and appreciated inclusions in this DVD region.

Lastly, there’s the CD, which is a mixed bag of 7 Christmas songs. They include a very brief “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” from Burl Ives, “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” from Bobby Rydell, “A Holly Jolly Christmas” from Burl Ives, “Silver and Gold” from Burl Ives, “Let it Snow” from Chicago, “Winter Wonderland” from Jewel, and “Merry Christmas Baby” from Otis Redding. The CD is an okay addition, but a 4th disc of more holiday specials or more DVD bonus features would have been preferred, or even a reliable soundtrack to one or more of the included specials.

Overall, this place is a must bear for the Christmas classics lover, and my only major complaint is how hard it is to choose the discs from the radiant packaging. I also highly recommend the following DVDs and DVD sets: Christmas Television Favorites (featuring other Rankin/Bass faves and the Grinch!), Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas, Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas, Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas, Disney’s Classic Holiday Stories, Peanuts Classic Holiday Collection, The Joyful Elf, Garfield Holiday Celebrations, Elf, A Muppet Family Christmas, The Muppet Christmas Carol, Warner Bros. Classic Holiday Collection, MGM Holiday Classics Collection, Santa Claus (1960), It’s a Incredible Life, Miracle on 34th Street (1947), A Christmas Account, The Nativity, A Christmas Carol (1951), Scrooged, Santa Claus the Movie, Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, Scrooge (1935), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (live-action), One Magic Christmas, Babes in Toyland (Disney), National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, Ernest Saves Christmas, A Chipmunk Christmas, the Santa Clause films, A Flintstones Christmas Carol, Benji’s Very Beget Christmas Tale, Sabrina the Tantalizing Series: A Witchmas Carol, and more! And don’t forget the many specials only available on VHS! Also, if you’re into the bizarre, examine out the Star Wars Holiday Special!

Somebody gave a negative 1-star review here (because of dubbing, not the quality of the art) to one of the best animes you might not have heard about so I understanding I would counteract the review.

This is a five-star anime, no doubt about that.

Yes there is no dubbing here, but Bandai has gotten a prove that might not otherwise have made it to the US market at a stout ticket, so lets not complain too considerable. You like to read don’t you? Plus you bag to hear the inflection of the fresh seiyuus (japanese mutter actresses) like the new director intended.

In Japan this was voted as the best anime in 2007 which is something to assume about. I believe they know anime over there : )

Sola is not your typical robots-explosions-mecha-madness anime nor is it a fan-service romp. It is an exploration of metaphysical forces and the mystery of our emotions as they become embodied in supernatural beings. It is deliberately paced, so if you are in a bustle for some action, then this is not for you.

In a design it reminds me of Haibane Renmei, which is high praise indeed. It has that same type of pensive and involving grasp on the supernatural order of things.

SPOILERS (Peaceful) AHEAD…

Plotwise, Sola is about a young artistic (photographer) boy, Yorito, who meets a girl, Matsuri, who has mysterious powers and who turns out to be the “Calamity of the Night.” She is basically a being (a Yaka) who is the embodiment of human agony and harm and as such she is meant to always be alone in the universe. Yorito doesn’t win that and befriends her. The rest of the anime revolves around their relationship. It is complicated by the fact that there are forces out hunting for Matsuri.

So, this is an anime that is a miniature different but of fabulous quality throughout. The pacing is obedient, the art and music are stellar and the overall indicate is of the highest quality. win a chance and you will be pleasantly surprised.

Ok, first of all, to discount this product simply b/c of it’s lack of a English dub is absolutely ludicrous.

If you purchased this thinking it would be dubbed, then yea, I can peek how that would suck, however, this was never advertised as such here on amazon, nor was it promoted as such in the months leading to it’s release. When you think this project was nearly axed and delayed once already, I’m jubilant to finally have this in my hands.

The site of anime is stunning dire fair now. Companies that have been around for decades now have either consolidated, or completely vanished :( ADV, Geneon, etc.) Fraction of the reason is the down economic dwelling in the world, but it’s also my idea that the anime market is suffering due to a lack of quality anime. There haven’t been any breakout hits in the last several years, at least since 2007, IMO.

Sola is one of those rare exceptions. Would I have prefered a dub, determined. I watched this on [...] when it originally aired a few years encourage, but purchasing this dvd, subtitle and all, has enhanced the experience for me, not taken away from it. The likelihood of a dub being released is minimal and to pass on this series for that sole purpose is beautiful terminate minded.

This series is a rare large that will top my personal favorites list for a very long time to advance.

THE STORY

A fine woman reclines on a day bed. She is restless and she is NAKED. A spotlight seems to highlight her gyrations and machinations. She sits up and slips into high-heeled sandals. She leans serve and puffs out her chest. She places one hand upon her breast and kneads her nipple. The hand moves down across her midriff to her sex and she massages it. Suddenly she stands up and deliberately struts across the hardwood floor. After a dozen or so purposeful steps, facing the camera, she lowers herself to her knees and bends wait on once again. The spotlight is quiet on her as she masturbates and as she masturbates, the camera pans lawful. After panning about ninety degrees, you begin to view people sitting at tables and the more it pans, you realize you are in a nightclub and the woman is an exotic performer. The woman is Nathalie.

Nathalie and Sandrine a recently hired bartender were fired that night because Nathalie would not allow the owner to force Sandrine to sleep with a customer. Tossed out on the street with nowhere to go, Sandrine well-liked Nathalie’s offer to expend the night. At her apartment, Nathalie urges Sandrine to loosen up after she admitted to admiring Nathalie’s nerve and lack of inhibitions.

Nathalie, with her dry humor and strong will, made Sandrine laugh and eventually coerced her to do in front of her what Nathalie had done in front of an audience. With that, the bond was sealed and plans were laid, based on Nathalie’s distorted conception of care for and sex, to manipulate all men and build a spot in society for themselves. After the women’s initial successes and having compromised their boss Delacroix, (Roger Mirmont), their conception begins to devolve into a whirlpool of ruthlessness, unrequited worship, group sex, lesbian sex, three-way sex, and masturbation, in which the only plan out appears to be suicide or destroy.

CONCLUSION

The highly charged erotic opening scene plot the theme for the movie so well, that I was mesmerized for the rest of the movie. Moral nothing that came after, with the possible exception of an “Eyes Wide Shut” style orgy scene unhurried in the movie, was quite as electric but I aloof enjoyed the movie immensely. You watch Secret Things had a tale. It had a situation. A superb anecdote, a superior situation, and the overall acting was very splendid. Secret Things is the closest I have viewed to a commercially viable, mainstream, erotic movie.

The movie Secret Things is appropriately named. The storyline is structured on secrets, deception and the duplicitous side of human nature. It is a reflection of a dusky, lascivious side of life, which rarely is truly, captured on film. In fact the movie seemed to touch on one earn or another, at one point or another, on all of `The Seven Deadly Sins’ – pride, envy, gluttony, lust, infuriate, greed and sloth, obviously a perfect unpleasant erotic movie.

Secret Things, French name – Choses Secretes, is the kind of movie one either loves or hates. I happened to be a lover. Even the fact that the movie was French with English sub titles did not dampen my enjoyment.

“Secret Things” (Choses Secrètes) explores the desires, ambitions, and obsessions that lie beneath the surface of everyday behavior. Specifically, life in the business world conceals a host of psychosexual games. Nathalie (Coralie Revel) is a worldly erotic performer and Sandrine (Sabrina Seyvecou) is the fresh-faced bartender at a Paris club. When they both lose their jobs, they become roommates. Sandrine envies Nathalie’s sexual self-confidence and abandon and is receptive to her lessons in life, sex, and manipulation. The two women place out to climb the socio-ecomomic ladder by seducing an earnest, dedicated senior employee (Roger Mirmont) at a company where they have both found employment The opinion comes with some risk -in the effect of the company’s slick, megalomaniacal heir (Fabrice Deville) – that they may tumble victim to their enjoy machinations.

Sandrine narrates this bizarre narrative of sexual power. The record could be told without voiceover narration, but, since it is essentially the myth of Sandrine’s self-discovery, the narration doesn’t seem gratuitous and is only a runt bit slothful. Probably the most superior thing that I can say about “Secret Things” is that it is a film for distinct tastes. This is talky, introverted, neurotic, psychosexual gobbledygook. It is French, in other words. There is a big deal of lesbian sex and nudity. The ideas presented in “Secret Things” are not unusual, but most of the film is sufficiently seductive and unpredictable to withhold the audience wondering how it will all turn out. That is not to say that it is realistic. There is a point at which the fable goes over the top and, in my plan, becomes laughably baroque and dull. But “Secret Things ” is generally toothsome if you like heavy-handed, explicit treatises on sexual power. In French with English subtitles.

The DVD: Bonus features include a “Photo Gallery” featuring stills from the movie and a text “Director Biography and Filmography”.

In 1964 director/producer Stanley Kubrick created the nuclear war comedic masterpiece “Dr. Strangelove: Or How I Learned To Discontinuance Worrying and Cherish The Bomb”. He followed that with the science fiction masterpiece “2001: A Region Oddysee”. Stanley Kubrick would advance his creative peak with his next film. An Adaption of Anothony Burgess’novel “A Clockwork Orange.” Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange is one of those films that you will either care for or despise. The film centers around the character of Alexander DeLarge (played to perfection by Malcolm McDowell) a 15 year passe “droog” who with his friends Pete (Michael Tarn), Georgie (James Marcus), and Shadowy (Warren Clarke) drink Milk Laced with drugs at the local “Milkbar” and then go out on the town at night, doing improper things to people. During one incident Alex is captured and taken to prison. He finds out about a treatment that can glean him of prison. He goes through with the treatment (which will fabricate him sick when he attempts to commit an act of violence), is released from prison and thrown relieve into the world, unable to defend himself. Out of all the things that fabricate this movie large, the number one element is the performance of Malcolm McDowell as Alex. The entire movie revolves around him so if McDowell’s performance isn’t top notch then the movie isn’t top notch. McDowell was in his slow twenties when he made this movie. In the fresh Alex is 15 years extinct. So although being mighty older then his character McDowell plays the adventureous youth wonderfully. Suprisingly McDowell was not nominated for an Academy Award. Another really strong element is the music. Never in my life have I seen a movie (non musical) where the music plays such an vital role in a film. Gioacchino Rossini’s “The Thieving Magpie” during the fight scence against the rival droogs. “The William Affirm Overture” played 5 times too rapid during the orgy scene and the utilize of Ludwig Van Beethoven’s “Symphony no. 9″ are unprejudiced a few examples of how music plays an primary role in this film. As far as things being unpleasant with the movie. The only sincere thing is the lack of any staunch supporting cast. Positive there are a few standout performances. Particularily James Marcus as Georgie and in no means are the rest of the supporting cast abominable actors. There objective isn’t a precise supporing cast there. But McDowell’s performace makes up for it. This film get’s 5 stars because of 3 things. Number one is the performance of Malcolm McDowell. Number two is the consume of music in such a different and recent device and number three is the originality of it. This movie came out in 1971 and I haven’t seen any movie like it that came out before or since then. A Clockwork Orange was nominated for several Academy Awards including “best characterize” and “best director” but it lost in all categories to William Friedkin’s “The French Connection”

In which high government officials are seen as the lawful equivalents of street thugs (impartial better at p.r.), demonstrating that nothing has changed in 35 years.

The HD transfer is spectacular. This is how I remember the movie upon its opening in 1971. Pristine, startling, improbable.

Repeated viewings over the years of worn-out circuit prints, VHS and standard-def DVD had dimmed the movie’s capacity to astonish. Now, in HD, the colorful brilliance, texture and color of the images are restored, and the richness of the images makes a grand contrast to the film’s impact. The sound is also obedient — certainly righteous to the recent theatrical release in the days of optical soundtracks.

In addition to the beauty of the Hi-Def narrate, this is worth owning because (at last) it is a stop approximation of the modern theatrical aspect ratio (veil shape) ; the theatrical presentation being, after all, the venue for which Kubrick tranquil his shots. (Ignore those who claim he meant this film to be seen in full-frame 1.33:1, as in all the previous home video releases. He clearly created it to be seen in theaters, and in theaters he had the image matted to 1.66:1, which is very finish to the aspect-ratio of this HD DVD.)

This is a 2-disc “Special Edition,” with the same extras as the standard-def DVD in the original (2007) boxed set: commentaries, trailer, novel interviews with Wm. Friedkin, Sydney Pollack, Malcolm McDowell, Wendy Carlos, Mrs. Kubrick, others.

LEGEND never really found an audience in theatres despite Ridley Scott and Universal’s constant tinkering with the final gash. Seems many movies of this era were victims of audience test screenings, and the desire to give people a commercial product that went down easy — peer BRAZIL for a prime example of how studios believe (the “appreciate conquers all” version) . So Myth was severely edited and rescored with a rapid (but often effective derive by TANGERINE DREAM) . It was short on site and long on art direction, but sumptuous visuals and an all-out acting job by Tim Curry and make-up artist Rick Bottin made the movie an easy popular of many fantasy fans. The movie looks gorgeous, and the myth is a universal drop into archetypes. Nothing injurious with that, it certainly worked for STAR WARS!

This DVD collection gives you two versions of Fable — the new director’s gash with over twenty minutes of added footage and the novel Goldsmith score; and in addition, you collect the recent US release. In essence you pick up two different movies! The moods vary, the characters seem a shrimp different, with whole modern speeches and images to appreciate. If you are a fan of the movie or Ridley Scott it’s a MUST-HAVE! This is what DVD dreams are made of. While many bemoan the fact BLADE RUNNER does not arrive with its 2 versions — the fact is other than the narration and the satisfied ending, there is not Distinguished different. But here we have a case where you can gape what happens to a movie as it goes through development HELL. Consuming stuff, and it comes LOADED with extras.

The only downside is the director’s slash gets the royal treatment of a 5.1 sound mix while the other version gets a 2 channel Dolby mix, and even the video quality seems different with again the director’s slice looking better than the theatrical release. But at last we can recognize a widescreen version of either reduce, and we come by a lot of extras that elaborate some of why the movie is the intention it ended up. Heavenly images, two fine soundtracks (I like both though the mood changes), and basically strong performances. Memoir is a waking dream!

As long as unicorns lumber the earth gross can never afflict the pure of heart, and that is why the prince of Darkness has sent his most foulest goblins out into the very daylight he seeks to ruin forever to slit off the horns of the last two remaining. But when Jack (the forest boy, played by a very young Tom Flee) takes Lily (a royal princess, played by the glorious Mia Sara) to look them, she does the forbidden and touches these ragged creatures. Lily soon discovers it was she who unintentionally lured the unicorns into the goblin’s trap; enabling them to shoot the poison stinger into one of the “beasts”, as they call them, with a distinct plan. Legend wasn’t too well received in theaters and was not a accepted among most critics but it has quick become a cult classic with fantasy lovers like me. Considering the obscene budget director Ridley Scott was given in order to perform this film in the mid-80s, I conception they did a astonishing job in bringing William Hjortsberg’s sunless fairytale to life, which was written specifically for the mask. I also felt the entire cast set aside on distinguished performances – especially Tim Curry who went through hell (pun intended) to explore as devilish as he does here…

Within this two-disc state is two versions of the film. One is the director’s slash, as it was intended to be seen, and the other is the U.S. theatrical version, which I personally catch, as do many others apparently. There are many extended scenes in the director’s nick that were taken out of the U.S. release to well-organized down the overall running time but I felt the U.S. version simply flowed better. It also features a more dramatic catch by Jerry Goldsmith instead of the more emotional net by Tangerine Dream and doesn’t include the closing credits song “Is Your Cherish Strong Enough? ” by Brian Ferry, ending the movie on a more magical notice. But mild, it was nice to glance both versions and to compare the two. There’s also a lot of bonus materials in the petite edition of Epic that many fans will be very grateful for.
